Coffee Shop Employee Handbook
What’s included in the coffee shop employee handbook?
In this guide, you’ll find the sections and information to help you shape and tailor an employee handbook to your business’s needs. It serves as a centralized resource for your staff, providing clarity, consistency, and a foundation for fostering a positive work environment. Start with the company’s basic information, like address, important phone numbers, social media and handles. Include the business’s policies and procedures, like equal employment opportunity, dress code, attendance, code of conduct with co-workers, health and safety, and emergency preparedness. Explain disciplinary action should anyone violate the policies. Outline time off, sick leave, and vacation policies. List the job duties of different roles and typical work hours for full-time and part-time employees. Lay out customer service standards, like how to handle complaints and upsell espresso shots. Touch briefly on training, like coffee knowledge, equipment, and menu prep. Outline employee benefits and perks, like employee discounts or healthcare. Explain how performance is evaluated and how often they can expect feedback and reviews. By providing a clear framework for expectations, fostering a positive work environment, and ensuring legal compliance, a handbook is an essential tool for any coffee shop owner or manager.
Have a single source of truth

A comprehensive handbook provides employees with the information they need to succeed. This empowers them to do their best work, reduces uncertainty, and fosters a sense of belonging.
